BRITISH BUDGET
COMMONS DEBATE CONTINUES.
SUPPORT AND OPPOSITION. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) ' LONDON, A Aril 26. In the Hous e o.f Commons Major C. R. Attlee (Labour) continued the Budget debate. He said that the Budget showed no sign of the promised new industries in Britain. The Budget demanded £750,000 from the poor co-operators, while it wag giving £600,000 to company promoters. It showed the true capitalistic touch. All of the available funds should have been used to remove the cuts made in the. unemployment payments. -Sir 11. 'Samuel (Libera!) said he ■approved Sir Chamberlain's refusal th take an unsafe course by reducing the incom e tax from funds not possessed. He said; “Wo now are engaged in delicate debt negotiations with the United States. The choice | at the present moment for a large, v ifnjusttijfied remission of taxation, when the American taxpayer is faced with a colossal deficit, would have been the worst possible method of negotiating. Sir H. Samuel continued; , The (House has a right to bo given mere information as to why the Government is increasing the Exchange .Equalisation Fund, Though beer was heavily taxed, he said, so were other (commodities and industries, while brewers’ profits had increased .from £10,000,000 i n 1913 to, £23,000,000 in 1932. H e agreed that the first claim on any available funds belonged to the unemployed and to their families. The debate wa s adjourned.
