A numbej of men have arrived in ■Otago Central from many part s of the North Island, inspired with hopes of easily-won gold. Some arrived .tramping, without money, and with scant a’.othing, and to provide for such cases a t “stay over” camp has' been established at Cromwell.
The latest proposal, in ~connection with the,gold are's at Crmnwei] Flat ~is,,or.e for th e amalgamation of all interest? 'with a view to all work, being controlled by one company. There is considepab/e .activity, in (Bell,. Hooper and Company’s property at Rawarau Gorge, w her e fifty v men, will shortly find work on the claim.
