'Justice McCJardie was found dead in his London house, with a bullet wound in his head ao,d a revolver nearby. A won.nit heard a shot- and rmlied to bis room and found McGardie lying on the floor.’ McCa-rdie wn« convalescing from two 'severe attacks of influenza, land was still suffering from the alter effects.
It was later established that Mr MrOrdie shot himself with a sporting gun, held between the knees and a: piece of 'string rttachod to the trigger, the other end of which lie held in liio ! hand. Mr McCardie had occupied a suite in Queen Ann Mansions, in St. James’ for 25 years.
A housemaid heard a shot at 4.30 o’clock in the afternoon, and found him crumpled in liitx chair, and bleeding from a wound in the head. Mr MoCardie had recently said : “I am depressed after tlie effects of influenza,” but a member of the hotel staff said that- lie seemed to ho in his usual charming, happy mood at lunch time.
Mr MrCTrdie was a keen sportsman,, and kept several guns at his rooms. The body was. removed to the Westminster mortuary. An .inquest will be held on Ann'l 2S. . --
