MONTHLY EXECUTIVE MEETING
The month’v meeting of the executive of the Hokitika branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association was he’d on Monday evening, when there were present Messrs A. C. A matrons; (president), R. Paterson. R. J. Appleton, T. 1 Stuart, W. E. Brown, G. A. King, J. L. Afenzies, lE. Eade and C. Bleach. Apologies .for absence were -received from Messrs G- Gilchrist, T. Lyncn and T. Cooper.
The minutes of the previous 'meeting
were read and confirmed. ■ ■ A lett e r wa s received from Headquarters acknowledging receipt of .capitation fees', and congratulating * the b-rr-noh, li.n keeping with the majority of local branches throughout New Zealand, on its increased membership, and stating that the total increase throughout New ZeVand for th e current year was approximately 5000-—-Received. The Women’s Institute .wrote - reauestiug the us-e of the supper room at the Hall on the second •,Monday in each -month.—Granted on. the usual terms.
The secretary of the women’s executive of the Red Gross Society, wrote regarding supples of tobaoc o . cigarettes and sweets for t-ho ex-service inmates of the local hospitals. Various members expressed appreciation of the work of the. Red Gross Society in this con-, nection, the lette r being received. Mr L. W. Addison, Bruce Bay,wrote requesting further supplies of poppies f.o.r Poppy Day.—Received and attended to.
The Christchurch branch forwarded the transfer to this branch of P. J, McCabe.—Received.
The Grey branch wrote forwarding an invitation to their annual meeting and re-union.—Received. The Australasian Performing Rights j>rsf>ci?tion advised its willingness to reduce the fees to the R.S.A. branches who fall under the category of “Hall Projectors.” It was decided to request, the A.P.R.A. to reduce the fee of the local branch.
A letter was received from Headouartei’s advising that the Hokitika branch was i36th on the Dominion membership ladder. The total membership at the end of February, 1933, vr.« 15,970. '
From s'/im’e .advising that the allocation of the* Canteen Funds for the March Errant was £lO for Hokitika.— Received.
Tt was decided to make a- grant, of £5 towards the relief of ex-servicemen in the Ross sub-branch. From same forwarding an appeal for funds towards the expense of erecting a memorial tablet in the parish church r ). Walton-on-Thrmes in memory of the twenty-one nur s es, 'officers and men of the N.Z.E.F. who lie in the churchyard of the Walton parish church. It was decided )to donate one guinea, towards the fund. «
