CATERPILLARS IDENTIFIED

The Oawdhron Institute ha s definitely identified 'She species of caterpillar whidi threatening the destruction of the mountain beech forests jn the WakaFpu district, but the great difficulty now is- to obtain control of the destructive insects. The only method of comb ting caterpillars would lie by the importation of pa'ras'ites,• but th.‘« woo'd take time.
“The (levtruct'on in the W'akat'pn cli•ti'ict is alarming,” said Dr Holloway. “1 have not heard of the ciiterp liar destroying mountain beecli in .other districts, but there is. a fe r that it will spread unless measures are taken to combat it.’’
