AFTER A VISIT BY BURGLARS

Signs of fire in the buildings of Messm Whitcombe and Tombs, stationers, Lambton Quay, early yesterday anorning brought the ’.Fire Brigade quickly to the scene.
On breaking into the building firemen found that burglars had' been at work in the showrooms on the ground floor and the first storey. The fire was quickly extinguished.
The extent of the theft is not yet known to the police. Little damage Was done bv the fire, which wa.s confined to books alone. These smouldered without bursting into flame.
