Through being thrown oat of a light delivery van in which he was travelling from .Riverton to Invercargill mi Fa tun lay o , ''iii)g j Jam.-s' Nelson '(Lilian, a tailor of Inrcreargiil had his neck broken and died instantly. One oj the two nun who weie with him is at present in Rivertan Hospital.
FOUND DROWNED
AUCKLAND, April 16
The body of .Mrs Isabel Duggan, aged 03, a visitor from Central
Otago, was found floating iu the harbour at 11.30 a.m. yesterday. Mrs Duggan, wh(| was staying with hgr son, Lionel Duggan, of Ponsoiiby,. hail left the house only an hour or two before her' body .was found. She had recently been, in poor health. An inquest was opened and adjourned.
NARROW ESCAPE.
AUCKLAND, April 15. Two ißft sailing boats competing in a race from Auckland to Coromandel capsized yesterday morning. In one instance the crew was picked' up in quick time by another boat but tlie crew of tlm • -second boat had to swim to the nearest land. A member of the latter crew, who, it is considered. had a lucky escape from drowning, was M. Corner, the All Black :crum-iiuif.
