WELLINGTON, April 16
The Dairy Board, at a meeting last meek, after reasserting its stand against restriction of the free entry of dairy products into England, discussed suggestions for the promotion of the use- of milk. One of the most practical suggestions was that advanced by Mr Aitkeri, a baker of Dunedin, who' suggested legislation making compulsory the use of 50 per cent of full cream milk and 50, per cent! of water for mixing flour, thus setting up a demand for a million gallons of milk, equivalent to tile 15,00(3 tons of hotter.
It is believed that millers -, could he induced to stand the extra 10s a ton on flour. This would enable the extra cost of a 41b loai to be set at a halfpenny, this being fully justified bv the rnoref healthy and nutritious bread. Mr Dynes Fulton said lh.il mue'n could be done by the proum'.ioi of greater use for milk in, tovus. smother suggestion was the feeding ol calves- for six weeks on whole milk. It is believed that there would lie a good market for six-weeks-old veal. The popularising of ; h-'-eso was another proposal, the sugarstioa being made that the aid of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union and the Women’s Institute be invoked. It was decided to seek more informaton from a correspondent suggcsihig an “eat more cheese campaign.' Giv-
ing to its eoUstitm urn as an. export body, the board was nimble to a j portion funds for exp-m liture within the Dominion, but it was mu.-xl 'hat some iielp could be given to a movent' n f to encourage, tire i onsu option of dairy prod nets.
