CHRISTCHURCH, April 7. The following resolution was passed at a meeting of the Canterbury butter factories held in Christchurch:—

■'‘‘This meeting 0 f Canterbury but. ter ‘factories urges upon th e Dairy Produce Control Board and the Government the immediate consideration of the disastrous position regarding butter prices. This Association favours restriction, and believes that immediate Action i s necessary an the interest of the producers. “This Association i s also of the opinion that the views 0 f the Control Board, as opposed t 0 restriction and to a restoration of the price level, do not represent the viewpoint of the industry as a whole, or the suppliers in particular.'’

INVERCARGILL, April 7,

The cO-ope.rative marketing of Southland, or of the South Island, cheese was the l subject of discussion at a largely attended meeting of the Southland Dairy factory representatives here Wday. The proceedings wore taken in committee. It was reported later tihat it had beqn decided to set up a .committee of fifteen members to consider the whole problem of .the marketing of ‘Southland cheese. It is understood that there were several tion that a Southland branch be adopted, and, 'in any case, the function of the committee is confined solely to the marketing 0 f Southland cheese. The committee is to call a meeting at which its findings will be submitted.
