£6O FOR PAKAPOO OFFENCE

AUCKLAND, April 7
A Chinese, Wong Lok, aged 55, and five Europeans, were arrested on gambling charges as the result of a visit by detectives to premises at Grey’s Avenue. They appeared in the Police Court later before Mr W. K. McKean, S.M. Wong Lok pleaded guilty to a charge of keeping premises as a common gaming house. The Magistrate said it seemed almost impossible to stop pakapoo offences. The accused was fined £6O, or in default three months’ imprisonment; and was allowed fourteen days in which to make payment. The Europeans found on the premises were convicted and discharged on an undertaking not to be found on Pakapoo premises again.
