;Official.,-word lias come from Shensi Province t-liat more than 2,000,000 persons are likely to die before the spring as a result of drought and famine unless help is taken to them.
Shensi’s famine areas lies roughly in a triangle from the city of Hnneheng southward to the mouth of the AYei river, and .from the AYei westward to Paoclit; and from there to Fengsiang. Dr. AA-illinm Kelly, special investigator for the China International Famine Relief Commission, reports that despite the bitter cold, four-fifths of the houses have been torn down and the material traded for food, and women have been openly sold.
Ho also says children are being sold or killed to end their suffering.
