Following Mr Latham’s statement in the House of Representatives, Mr Bell (Tasmania) asked if it wore conceivable. that (potatoes .from New Zealand would be admitted to Victoria, while Victoria continued to impose an embargo against Tasmania potatoes, because of {disease, which was prevalent also in New Zealand potatoes. Mr Latham said the Government lrad noted the anomaly and the matter whs fin-don consideration.
TASMANIAN PROTEST
HOBART, April 5
There is strong resentment throughout the potato growing districts m Tasmania at the action of the chairman of the Tasmanian potato marketing Boftrd, in instructing the marketing officer at Sydney that the Board was (not 'opposed to the lifting ol the embargo on New Zealand potatoes. Meetings have been held and a telegram of protest was sent to the Prime Minister. A DENIAL. DOMINIONS AND MARKET BOARD. '(Received Aoril 5 at 11.35 a.m.) LONDON, April 4. A high Australian authority discounts the statement that the Dominions refused financially to support the Empire Marketing Board.
