DEPUTATION AT AUCKLAND. IMPROVED SCHEME DEMANDED. (Per Press Association— Copyright.) AUCKLAND, April 4. A strong deputation, including the Mayor, members of Parliament, .social workers, and unemployed leaders, today discussed the unemployment relief policy with' the Minister (Mr Hamilton). In effect they demanded a change in the policy to somethng broader and better than the No 5 Scheme. ' Ainongst other grievances, they stressed the alleged penalising of men who secured outside employment. One speaker said that if the board intend, to make the relief wage the maximum a family could earn, then the regulations regarding public assemblies would be broken. The Minister, replying, said that there appeared to be more unrest in Auckland than elsewhere. He would take back to Cabinet the message that further relief was required there. The Government was not unmindful of the coming winteiy and its plans included approaching tlie secondary industries, with a request to do somethng to Rehabilitate men in employment.
