SENTENCED ON MURDER CHARGE

Jseph Norman Pitre, the first man in the history of British jurisprudence to face a second murder trial, aftei once being acquitted, was sentenced to the penitentiary for a term of five years, following his conviction for murdering Getirge Smith, a storekeeper.
His brother, Wallace, received la similar sentence for robbery ' with violence in connection with the saimcase. '
Before Pitre could he charged a second time for the same, offence the Constitution of New Brunswick had to be altered by Act of ( Parliament.
