The top of Paekakariki Hill was last evening th© scene of a spectacular sight when a motor lorry that was laden with two hundred cases of benzine was destroyed by fire. Apparently the fir© resulted from a leak jn one of th© cases, when it was discovered that it was impossible for the two men on the lorry to do anything hilt make certain of their own safety. There were loud detonations as the tins of benzine exploded. The traffic on the road was held up for some time.
