SMALLER DEMAND
ON MUNICIPAL RATEPAYERS.
DUNEDIN CITY FINANCE,
DUNEDIN, March 25
The rate demand on city ratepayers for. the coming year is less by £26,422 than last year’s demand. This reduction follows one of over £29,000 last year, placing the Dunedin City Council in a unique position in local body government.
Reporting to tho City Council, the finance committee states: “With respect to the year just closed, the statements indicate that of the estimated income for the year of £214,033 the sum actually realised was £212,224, or £2700 short of the estimate. On the expenditure side, however, tlie figures show that Ihe policy followed during the year of a close periodical examination of both income and expenditure has enabled the requirements to bq met by a total expenditure of £204,437, as aginst the budgeted figure of £214,933, or a reduction for the year of £10,500.”
