Tlia weather was fine when New Zealand , resumed its innings against the M.CLC., with three down for 153. Kerr (42) and Page batted quietly against Voce and Allen, but livened up against tlie clow bowlers. Keir, reached 50 in 116 minutes. At 12.15 p.in. tlie score was 3 for 174.
Kerr and Page found it hard to make runs. At 185 Kerr gave a hard catch to Hammond in the slips. James, the incomer, was uneasy against Tate, and quickly went leg
before. ■Smith started quietly. At lunch the score was 5 for 196.
PLAYERS INJURED IN TEST.
CHRISTCHURCH, March 27
It was stated this morning that it is very doubtful whether Badcock or Vivian will be able to bat. Badeock’s finger is still painful, as the result of a knock when fielding on Friday, the linger being broken. Vivian was admitted to Lewisham. Hospital yesteiday with water on the knee, the result of a blow from a ball when fielding. As both have fielded and bowled, their places in the batting list cannot be filled by substitutes.
