MINING EXECUTIVE MEETING.
A meeting of the Mining Executive directing the Unemployed Boards scheme in Westland County, met at the County Chambers on Saturday evening at 7.30. Present: Messrs J. A. Murdoch (County Chairman), W. Jeffries, M. Keenan and W. McClusky. Apology was made for the absence of Mr R. Cox.

Prom certifying’ officer, conveying reply- of Board regarding single men refusing without /good reason employment available under Forestry Department, and stating they should be refused further relief under Board’s , schemes.—Received, the certifying officer to confer with Mr McCluskey. From Supervisor Cooper, reporting oh several inspections. The following were approved:, R. Fleming, Kumam Junction; T. Sahoy and party, Kapitea ; W. C. Dick and party, Arahura. From James Rocbfovd, secretary Kumara Miners Association, reporting localities for prospecting (1) Teremakau to Loopline (east of Dillmans), (2) the country at the head of Dillmans across Kapitea valley, (3) country north of Teremakau, including Greenstone.—Received with thanks: No. 3 was not in executive’s jurisdiction. Committee to notify any eligible parties’ applications to prospect would be considered on their merits. From Ross committeee of Borough Council reporting on activities, and work carried on in Ross and Totara districts. —Received, clerk to reply the committee might carry on under, present authority. Mr J. Guy, of the Gold Creek Syndicate. gave an outline of the attractive possibilities of the Taipo district. Mi Guy had been two and a half years in 'the ‘ hack country, and explained the for tracks to reach some of the I high country. Mr Guy offered to provide the supervision, with a horse, to visit the district and point out the e6u ntry to he tested. Mr Guy was thanked for his information and offer, and it was agreed the supervisor visit Taipo on his. return from Wataron. It' was stated the trip would occupy 1 four days. It was resolved to hold the next meeting on April Bth. The meeting concluded at 9.25 p.ra.
