IS OPINION OF THE BOARD.

Although strong comment has been levelled against the questionnaire issued by the Unemployment Board which applicants for relief' work are compelled to fill in fer tile purpose of showing any means theypossess, it was officially stated to-day that the board considers the inquiries both justified and necessary. It was stated that it became necessary for the board' to require applicants for relief to supply the particulars lio.V asked in view of widespread misrepresentation concerning tliffi means of those'applying, while it : was stated that men with small mcang were not discouraged.
It was found that the Board’s assistance was being taken advantage of by some who were able to support themselves 0 r who were in a sufficiently good position to run motor-~->'s <•«'! employ help in their homes, One mat who applied for relief was found to have no less than £SOOO in the bank.
