LABOUR’S DEMAND
FOR SHARE OF CONTROL.
IN BRITISH PUBLIC INDUSTRIES

LONDON, March 22
At a joint meeting 0 f the general council of the Trade Union Congress and the executive committee of the Socialist Party to-day, it was decided to endorse the principle, “That the claim of arganised labour to a place in the control and direction of the publicly-owned industries shall be recognjsed.” The '“Daily Telegraph’s” industrial representative says: “This sweeping declaration of policy is the culmination of a year of party discussion regarding the form that nationalisation should take. It means that when a Socialist government is returned to power, the Bank of England the joint stock hanks, and the staple industries will be placed under the control of a hoard (;f management. The trade unions will select representatives to serve on such boards, and will claim sef-government and also workshop coiitrol, while the wage rates and hours will he negotiated between the trades unjons 'and the joint boards.
