The. hill stipulates that regard must always be . paid to the obligation of maintaining the lands as a suitable background for the main area.

The Commissioner of State Forests is given powers to manage and control the ayea, to dispose of its produce, and to grant leases, licenses, and permits exercisable by him in respect of permanent 'State forests. All expenses of administration are to be deducted from the revenue before payment is made'to the Trust Board. The same powers of sale and exchange as are contained in the Land Act (1924) in respect of national endowment land are to be exercisable under the' bill. The Trust Board, however, .must he notified 'of any proposed sale ‘or exchange of land, and it mu'st. he consulted. Apart from these provisions "the lands affected by the present bill will not be brought under the existing legislation covering national endowment land®. ' ‘

The la'st clause sets out that the Governor-General may by Order-in-Council direct that any' lands which are vested in the Crown and which are adjacent to the lands immediately affected. by the bill shall be subject to the provisions of the bill in all respects.
