SENSATION CAUSED
FRENCH STATEMENT GENEVA DISARMAMENT TALK. (United Press A isociation—By Electric Telegraph—Ucpy right.) (Received this day at 9.35 a.m.) LONDON, March 7. Geneva reports state that a sensation developed at the Geneva Commission 0 f the Disarmament Conference, during a discussion on oversea troops, when Herr Nadolny (Germany) remarked that hehoped that Germany would be considered as interested. M. Sarraut, (French Colonial Minister) said that he was convinced that certain countries, which to-day did not possess colonies, would, in the near future, be able to join in the work ot colonising nations in the exploitation of continents like Africa, which were large enough to afford work for all European nations. This statement ..greatly surprised M. Sarraut’s colleagues and an “official” explanation quickly followed, declaring that M. Sarraut referred to German collaboration in public works, for example the construction of aerodromes in Algiers and Tunis, but the explanation did not prove convincing.
