AUSTRALIANS IN,N.Z. MALFROY AND FRANCE WIN. ' WELLINGTON, March 6. Playing in a violent wind the Wellington tennis team Malfroy and.D. G. France defeated the Australians, Dunlop and Purcell, at Miramar to-day by two matches . tq, The , conditions made consistently good play impossible. Dunlop was right off form against Malfroy, who gave him no chance to dominate the play from the net. .Purcell’s well produced*.strokes and service were impressive. France played well to take him to 6—6 in the third set. The doubles were a long drawn out struggle with many bright interludes. Results.—Malfroy beat Dunlop 6-1, 6-4; France lost Purcell 2-6, 6-3, 6-8; Malfroy and France beat Dunlop and Purcell . 6-4, 4-6, -6-8, 6-3, 7-5. .
