HEAVY FINES

SMUGGLING CIGARETTE PAPERS. (Australian Press Association ) (Received this day at 10.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, March 2. Fines totalling £lB5 were imposed on five men in the Central Summons Court on charges relating to the smuggling into Sydney of five hundred cartons of cigarette papers from New Zealand.

Arthur Rees, a greaser on the Monowai, was fined £75 for smuggling the papers into Sydney, the others being lined for receiving. Rees admitted having previously smuggled consignments of papers.
