TERMS DECLINED
ROY REED NOT TO RIDE IN MEXICO. PALMERSTON NORTH, Feb. 27. M ord was received this evening that the Agua Caliente trip was definitely otf so far as Roy Reed is concerned, ■Mr Davis’ terms not being acceptable. Last week the agents of Mr Davis, owner of Pillow Fight and Tea Trader, approached. Reed with a proposition that he should go across to ride the horses! Reed said he would leave by the first ship provided certain guarantees which he stipulated were forthcoming. Mr Davis said he could guarantee his expenses and give him £ 1000 provided he succeeded in piloting Pillow Fight to victory in the Agua Caliente Handicap, the race won by Fhar Lap last year. Considering the fact that Pillow Fight and Tea Trader' have yet to prove they are really good horses, the’terms made the trip too much of a gamble and Reed rejected the proposition. Asked if he would have accepted had it been Silver Scorn he was, to ride in the Agua Caliente Handicap, Reed had no hesitation in saying that he -would have gone “like a shot.’
