CUSTOMS SEIZE SAMPAN.

FORTY JAPANESE ABOARD. (Australian Press Association) BRISBANE, February 25. A report from Thursday Island states that a large sampan, equipped with a Diesel engine, and with forty Japanese aboard, was intercepted by- tlie Customs authorities in the Prince oi Wales Channel. It appears to be the same craft that was reported on January 24. The vessel is now held for inquiries.

A mysterious vessel was on January 24 off the coast New Guinea, but disappeared during a rain squall and was not seen again.
