ASSEMBLY REPORT'S

WANGANUI, February 23

Submitting the report of th e Life and Work Committee to th e Presbyterian Assembly to-day, the convenor stated the outstanding feature of the year was the success which had attended the work of the C'hurch evangelist, Rev: John Bassett, a .s 3,051 had joined membership in church during the year, which was the largest number in tlio history of the church. Th e financial statement for th P year submitted by Air V. G. Chapman, General Treasurer, stated the givings °t the congregations to missionary and budget schemes had fallen Irom £3O/715 to £21,052. There was a deficit in the church's funds of £12,480. The revenue from sources other than the congregations had fallen off. Funds under' the cave of the Treasurer amounted to over £380,000. Of this the beneficiary fund represented !£200,000, and the balance was made U p of missionary and other trust funds. The Advisory Board submitted its report. , ~ The Assembly agreed to give to the wome.n of the' Presbyterian Womens Missionary Union and the Young AYomen’s Missionary Union and the Young Women's Bible 01** U™n greater representation on the Advisory ©bard. Presbyteries were urged ° confer with P.W.M.U.'s and Buie Cla-isos when considering the bud jet schemes of - the church, the Assembly also considering the possibility of 25 members of the P.W.-M.U. being associated with the Assembly when these matters are 'being considered. gt.
