HOUSE A “MILLIONAIRE’S CLUB.”
WASHINGTON, February 21
After giving -its approval to many Government pay reductions, “for economy’s sake,’’ tile House of .Representatives stormily defeated a motion to reduce' the pay of Congressmen from OUUU dollars to 7600 dollars (£I6UO at par).
Members pleaded that any reduction in salary would prelude the poorer per-, sons in the community from serving, and would make the House a ■'millionaires’ club.”.
As a magnificent economy contribution the House voted to limit the number ol ! delegates attending at the Government /expense the 1 unoral of deceased members to two Senators and two representatives. Official delegates in the past have sometimes exceeded 60.
