CHARGE FAILS

(WELLINGTON* February 17. A,t the Supreme Court, John Light- - foot was found not guilty on a charge of being a rogue and a vagabond, in •ihat he had been .armed with an offensive weapon with felonious intent. ! The circumstances were that on December 3rd. last, there w-a». attempted an organisation demonstration, of unemiplpyed men to Parliament Buildings. The movement was stopped by the police. Light foot was taken to the Central /Police 'Station, and the police alleged that the accused threw y away a baton with pieces of string fixed to.it in the same way ns a leather s rap is fixed to a police, baton. Counsel for the defence, submitted that the evidence bad not proved that Lightfoot had been in possession of the baton.
flie jury- returned a verdict of not guilty.
