Mr Hogan, chairman of the Wanganui Harbour Board, having heard the rumour that the Railways Board, in revising its freights, is cutting them lo a very low and uneconomical rate in which it is feared will have very detrimental effect on the coastal trade, has telegraphed Mr W. Ye itch (Govt., Wanganui), asking him to make inquiries ascertaining the truth of the .rumour, and to take lece-isary steps for the .protection of coastal ports.

Air Vejtch has replied that he is matching die position, carefully, and mill take up the matter immediately to protect public interests.
