RUNANGA FIRE
HOUSE AND BUSES BUR NTs
GREYMOUTH. Feb. 16,
At 12.80 o’clock this morning a de« struetivo fire occured at Runanga, when the five-roomed residence and outbuildings of Mr J. Low, the wellknown motor bus proprietor, were completely razed. The fire originated in the garage wherein were two buses, which were totally destroyed.
The barking' of a dog awakened the neighbour next door, Mrs Walsh, who lost no time in' arousing Mr Low, his son and another young man staying in the house. Mrs Low is at present in Christchurch hospital. A bucket brigade was quickly at work, but their efforts w T ere unavailing to quell the flames, and great difficulty was experienced in saving the adoining residences of Mrs Smith and Mr T. Collins.
With the exception of some bedding, nothing was saved.
