MARLBOROUGH PLANE CRASHES
MISHAP AT RONGOTAJ DROME

WELLINGTON, February 15. After taking off at Rongot-ai Aero-ch-onip for a flight to Blenheim this evening, the Marlborough Aero Club’s machine cr-rghed on tiie aerodrome and was badly damaged. Neither the pilot, A. K. Willis, nor th e passenger, Morrison, wag hurt.
The machiiig was a three.seator Simmo.ids Spartan. It came to Wellington two days previously. A strong northerly was blowing, and the pilot took off in the climbing turn manoeuvre used for leaving Rbngotai in a northerly, but he did not gain much height. He then turned around again to get into the wind, and had almost completed the circle when the wing 0 f the machine, which steeply banked, struck the ground.
The wing dropped along some yards Then the machine went over on its nose, smashing the propeller off before oomfug to -rest on its side. The engine cowling was -buckled, portion of th 6 -fuselage and some of the wing structure was damaged.
