OIL FROM SHALE
INVESTIGATION IN N.S.W

As a result of the visit to New no? last week of the consultant on development to the Federal Government (Sir Herbert (>epp), jt is understood that the Federal Government will shortly authorise the expenditure of £IO,OOO on an investigation of the possibilities of the X e wires shale oil works. The prop:',;al i, s that if the investigation lihould prove beyond doubt that the industry mould be payable, and that th t . proposed meth'xl of working, would be economical, the Government of New .South Wales should subsidise the new company. It is expected that a proposal will be made to' the shale oil development <‘Ommitte P shortly. The committee will supervise the expenditure of the £IO,OOO which the Common, wealth proposes to make available.
