TRANSPORT BOARD FUNDS

AUCKLAND, January 26

William George Norman Hutchinson, a clerk, aged 28, pleaded guilty this morning to ten charges of stealing sums totalling £971 belonging to the Transport Board, ,by whom lie was formerly employed.

It was stated in evidence that accused had disclosed his defalcations to the accountant, and he gave the ,fullest assistance to the police. For months he had been duplicating cheques, mostly for small sums representing relief wage tax payments, and 'subsequently cashing tlie cheques.

Accused pleaded guilty and was committed for sentence. He was admitted to bail on two sureties of £SO.
