RETURN TO HOSPITAL
FRACTURED NECK FEARED.
DIVING ACCIDENT SEQUEL.
AUCKLAND, January 22,
After having been discharged f}rom the Auckland Hospital on Wednesday, Mr William Sydney Heron, aged 20, who received injuries to the neck while diving cn Sunday, found that his neck was paralysed yesterday morning, and lie had to be readmitted to hospital. The full extent of his injuries w-il not be known until ho has undergone an X-ray examination this morning, but it is feared that his neck may have been firactured.
Mr Heron, who lives at Cambridge came to Auckland for a picnic, and while diving during the afternoon, he struck his head and received injuries to the head and neck. Ho progressed very satisfactorily during the th‘ |- ee days lie, was in hospital and was discharged on Wednesday. When, however, as he was talking to a friend in the street, he turned his head rather suddenly and felt a “click” in Ins neck. He was unable to turn his head again, and bad to be taken to hospital.
