DAMAGE AND LOSS HAIL SMASHES MANY WINDOWS. (Australian t ress Association ) (Received 11.20 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 25. Railway communication on the south coast was resumed at midnight, using a single track in the damaged sections. Washouts are delaying traffic on the north coast and other systems, and the Mosvale and Port Kenibba line is still closed.

Serious losses of sheep, cattle, pigs and poultry are reported from country centres. A number of valuable horses were killed by lightning at Barellan. ' A terrifying hailstorm and cyclonic wind at Narrabri smashed hundreds of windows. The huge hailstones also perforated water tanks.

QUEENSLAND DROUGHT BREAKS. FARMERS NEED MORE RAIN YET. (Received 12 noon). BRISBANE, January 25. Though the Condamine River has fallen, the water is still over the rail■way at Prampna. Pilot Brain reports that he flew through a storm from Alice Springs to Longreach where much ground was covered by wate>r. The dr yspell was broken by a heavy thunderstorm in the south-west disp tricts, but further rain is needed to save Win ton farmers from a desperate plight.
