PREMIER OPPOSES INFLATION.

TORONTO, January 23

“Unless something unforeseen happens, Canada cannot, and dare not, inflate her currency,” so the Premier, Mr Bennett, told the Board of Trade in an address on Monday night. Canada’s production of gold and new wealth, he said, permitted her to meet every obligation, according to its contracts, so the Premier said. He added that the British delegation to the coining International Conference will deal with the problem of the stabilisation of the exchanges. Mr Bennett predicted a new method for stabilising securities at the coming session. There would be some standard of a like value, so that the money of Australia and Norway would be similar. This was inevitable, Mr Bennett said.
