TRIBUTE TO REV. MOUNTFORT

Prior to his departure from the Kumara parish to Temuk-a where he has been transferred, the Rev. C. L. Mountfort was farewelled by the parishioners of the Arahura church on Sunday, when there was a largo attendance. ’ ' - •

After the service. Air A. Richards on behalf of the parishioners, referred 10 the work of, tlie. vicar and,.regret felt ,at his leaving, -He, presented Mr MpuntWrd with a well filled ..wallet and wished, bin; health and happiness apd ,-siiccpss ,m his 1 work, Messrs Ta.-nUi also expressed regret on behalf of the Maoris, Mrs Tainui sour, presenting Air Alountford with a. piece of greenstone as a token of esteem. He was the recipient, too, of a painting of the old church, also the gift of the Maoris. Mr Mountford expressed his. thanks for, the splendid response the people of Arahura had made to their church. It had always been a pleavsure to, come to Arahura where the services were always well attended.

He asked that the same faithful service ‘be Continued. He heartily thanked them for their kinds words and good vis-lies and token of esteem, and would always look back with pleasure to his ministration in Arahura, All then adjourned ot Toker’s Hall where afternoon tea had been prepared.
