SEEKING GOLD
A PARTY FOR SOUTH AYESTLAND
A party of four persons, including two women arrived yesterday in Hokitika, from where they will head s°uth into South AYestland in search of gold. The leader of the party was formerly a farmer near Auckland, and lias sold his farm to undertake this trip. He has had prospecting experience in America, Australia and New Zealand. The other man is Air Davidson, a North Island journalist, while of the two women, one was formerly a school teacher in England and has only been in New Zealand a few months, and the other is a resident of Auckland.
Tile party intends to search for gold in South AYestland and later possibly to enter some of the unprcspected territory in the far south, Air Davison has joined the party partly as- a prosoector and partly as a writer. Thb leader of the expedition has had prospecting experience in . Australia and is familiar with the South AYestlaml and Southland country.
The party plans to pack its supplies to tho south and to take at least six months over the expedition. The two womV’ii are experienced campers and hikers, which should stand them in goud stand in the rough country they propose to enter.
