The “Telegraph’s” correspondent says that rumours are afloat here that the leg thory may yet become a diplomatic incident. It has been suggested bv one or two who ought to know that the British Government and, more especially, the Dominions Office are watching things closely with a view to its possible effect on Empire feeling should the tension continue. IN WHITEHALL CIRCLES. « LONDON, January 18. Whitehall circles at first refused to take seriously the suggestion that bodyline howling might necessitate Government conciliation in the interest of friendly relations, hut were astounded to-read an Adelaide cable in the afternoon; that no Government communication thereanent. had reached Whitehall or Australia House. Cricket’s excursion, into politics would he deplored.
