INVERCARGILL, January 7. The compulsory conversion .of all local body loans, a subject which has been engaging tho consideration of the Sbuthiand Electric I'ower Board for some time past, received further mention at to-day’s meeting. In urging that representations to the authorities be renewed, Mr E. lv. Sim declared that the Government was only procrastinating in the matter.
He said the flax and gold mining industries were languishing, as was also the dairying industry, and assistance for these industries was urgently needed. Immediate action was required, and he moved that the board follow up loan conversion possibilities by further written representations to the Prime Minister, to Ml* Adam Hamilton, and t,he • Minister of Finance. The motion was carried.
