TRAFFIC BLOCK
SHELTER UNDER TRAMGAR

Two (lucks eauiiit'd a traffic blockage lasting live miuules in Queen Street shortly before 6 ,p.m. yesterday. Escaping from tlteir owner at tno Vi(toria 'Street intersection, the ducks crossed the ‘path of inward-bound tranicars. As they showed no inclination to leave the rails, the leading car pulled up and the birds promptly took range underneath it. Within a few minutes the line of tranicars extended hack as far ms the Welles, ey Street intersection and crowds had gathered to watch the diverting spectacle. The owner, with a bird under arm, was waiting ■on. the safety zone opposite. .John CourtV:, Ltd., when one of the ducks escaped. In seeking to recapture it, he. lost possession of the other bird. When the ducks Eought the shelter of the tarmcar the owner was considerably alarmed lest the birds should l :e injured. The quarry, (piaicking loudly, proved exceptionally elusive. One took up its position against the i\ bee’s, and for a time defied the attempts to catch it made by motocnionj and conductors, while the other was eventually caught after some trouble.
