SOUTHLAND MEETING ENDS

The Southland meeting concluded to-day in dull, but fine weather. The track was in good order and there was a good attendance. The tote handled £10,320 as aganst £10,449 last year. The total for the meeting was £21,257 as against £20,824$ last year, when there were seven events each day. Results : *

Gladstone Highweight:—(l) Signaller 1; (3) Thornton 2; (2) Spanish Maid B. Won by 3 of a length. Time 2.12.

Makarewa Trot: —(1) Blue Mountan 1; Vl0) All Sunshine 2; (4) Young Frank 3. Won by 10 lengths. Time 3.30 4-5.

Shorts Handicap:—(3) Assemble 1; (2) Blue Metal 2; (5) Last March 3. Won by Tof a length. Time 1.14. Summer Handicap:—(l) Hystride 1; (7) Miss Winstohe 2; (1) Amelita 3. Won by $ a length.
