HAMILTON, Jan. 2.
Satisfactory progress is being, made with the Government’s scheme to settle unemployed men on the land in the Raglan and, Waikato Counties. Six men have been placed in the Raglan County in occupation of partly-improv-ed areas, ranging from 25 to 50 acres.
Great care has been exercised in tne selection of the applicants, who have been chosen on the nomination ot farmers in the neighbourhood of the small farms. Cottages have been erected oil the holdings and cows have been supplied. Every facility has been offered to the men to commence farming on a small scale and .they have made a" willing response to tlie efforts of the Government to help them. Their earnings from the farms are supplemented by receipts from the labour they give to the neighbouring farmei s. A share-milking contract under the Government’s scheme has also been let in the Raglan County.
