Lord Mayor of London, conveying New Year greetings on behalf of the citizens of London, warmly reciprocated th 6 sentiments exp l cased. •He adds; “We have pae,s e d through a difficult and anxious year and no one has failed to realise the great Weight of the Responsibility thaV still faces- us. But 1 am confident, that the spirit of dogged deterhiination and courage, -which has been the mamspring of our efforts in the past will continue to guide our ways and inspire our hearts. I know that the Ulty of London Will, as ever, -stand four square to all the buffeting that the end of circumstances may bring, and therefore, I hopefully send my greetings to her citizens, praying that, under Divine '' Providence, the coming year may lighten our task.” Th/e Prime Minister’s New Year message is as -follows; “The year to which we say good-bye has been one of hard work and struggle for all and hardship for too many. But I think that we have been sustained by t ** v thought that we w e re . pressing forward along the right road, that we are 1 making real progress, .-nd that heir jand there glimpses of better tilings ahead could be discerned. It i; my very earnest hope that in the ’ year 1933 our (country ,as ,a mhofe may receive some of the reward which th e efforts of its people deserve.”
