HINDU WIDOW’S SUICIDE. (United Press Association -By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) CALCUTTA, December 28. Her relatives having refused at allow her to perform “feuttee,” a young widow at Cawnpore, in ail agony of grief, dressed in her dead husband’s clothes and leapt from the roof of a house, and was killed. “Suttee” is the practice of self immolation on the husband’s funeral pyre. It is an old Hindu custom, and has been made illegal by the British (authorities, but it still persists on occasions.

A Slovakian locomotive driver, suffering .from religious mania, committed suicide by throwing himself into the firebox of his own engine.
