AVELUNGTON, December 23.
“The greatest problem facing New Zealand to-day is not adult uneinpiloyment, great though it is, hut the problem of the hundreds of boys who are leaving without chances of employment,” said Bishop Sprott at the dosing ceremony nit Croydon School, Day’s Bay, ‘Wellington. “The danger is that many of the boys and girls may roach adolescence without ever learning the responsibilities of work, and the result will be most intense competition. It will he a difficult matter for those who have not bora sufficiently educated and prepared to obtain a worthy position. Ido not depreciate technical tuition; knowledge and skill will always be essential. But character is even more essentia)!, and without that no one will avail much in the responsibility of work. The real bedrock of character is the sense of God and duty,” lie concluded. “Part of th L ., tragedy of the past generation and tlie gene nation in which wc are living is that these realities have been drifting apart in our lives, and character has suffered.”
