According to the League of Trade Review for the first half of 1932, compared with th© corresponding •period for 1931, the United States tuade dropped in value by 67.5 per cent., Germany’s by 60 per cent., British Iby 57 per cent., and French by 54 per cent. Th© average world drop was one-third. Prices for foodstuffs and raw material have now declined by 50 per cent. Wheat and wool suffered more heavily, whereas prices for manufactured goods have not conformed with the general decline. The review emphasises that, if trade disorganisation is not checked, many countries will be unable to maintain their already low standard of living.
