EARTHQUAKE CASE,

FOR, ONE YEAR

(Per Press Association Copyright.)

AVER LING TON, December22l,D 1 ,

Disqualification for tffe period of a year from December 19t.i. has been mi payed on Earthquake and on F. L. Turley, D. W. Morgan, F. L. Fenton, anff Mir? M. L. Turley by the final judgment of tlr© Appeal J udges of the New Zealand - Racing Conference, in the Earthquake case. The judges were Sir Charles Clifford, Alessm Gould and Donnelly. They say 'after carefully considering the evidence adduced at inquiries before the, Greymonth District Committee and hearing Turley, Morgan and Fenton, they are satisfied that th e . evidence uctabTshes beyond question tlijat Earthquake was, and is owned by Turlov. Airs Turley was unable to appear before them, but they had an 'opportunity of reading an affidavit by her, placed before the Greymonth District Committee and Turley stated she could add nothing to tho affidavit. They were satisfied that the various registrations of ATorgan, Fenton and All's Turley as owners, at different times of Earthquake, were devices to conceal the fact that the horse was owned by Turley throughout the .period. They therefore found that Turley, Morgan, Fenton, and Airs Turley were guilty of corrupt practices under the Rules of Racing.
