MOTOR CYCLIST KILLED
DROP'S loft. INTO A RIVER
{Per Press Association Copyright.) INVERCARGILL, December 19. A serious accident, resulting in the death of William Templeton, of Pallia, a single man, aged 22, occurred at Campers’ Creek, Te Anau, yesterday. Templeton and a pillion rider, Alfred Cyril Crofts, aged 29, were proceeding towards Tuatapere and apparently they failed to notice which stated that the road was closed owing to the approach to a bridge on the Tuatapere side having been washed away.
The machine crashed through the barricade which had been placed across' the road, ran along the bridge, and then dropped 15 feet over the end into t'Ke stream below.
Templeton received serious injuries and died in Riverton Hospital. Crofts had a miraculous escape, and sustained two fractured ribs, bruises a-nd shock. Ho is at present in Riverton Hospital,
FATALLY CRUSHED BY LOG. WELLINGTON, December 19, Struck by a log, on a wire slide at Akatarawa, and severely injured, William Collins, wood-cutting contractor, 45, single, died on the way to the hospital. Deceased was engaged on a station at Akatarawa when the log came down the slide and struck him, crushing his right shoulder and ribs. GIRL FATALLY INJURED. MELBOURNE, December 17. “That’s how Bradman does it,” exclaimed a young man to a group of youths at the corner of a street at Brunswick, near Melbourne, a® he demonstrated a stroke with a cricket bat. The bat struck Miss Olive Fullerton, aged 18 year®, and several days later she died at her home from cerebral haemorrhage. SCHOOLBOY DROWNED. GISBORNE, December 20. A schoolboy, Nalde r Bruce, aged 13, was drowned whilst bathing at Ruakitui.
